Fasti is designed to be flexible and extendable:
- Fasti is divided in several functional modules with clear
boundaries: a module can be replaced with an upgraded
part without changing the whole system.
- Each module can be substituted by a module of similar
external connections but with different configuration or
capabilities.
- Each module, as far as possible, can be doubled to get
higher or extended capabilities.
- Many functions are performed in software (in the embedded computer)
or in software like ambient (in the SVB).
- The flexible waveform generator (SVB) can generate up to four
completely different waveforms, so is capable not only to
control different detectors, but also different
modes on the same device.
