Central to Fasti is SVB, The Flexible Sequence Generator.
It is based on a specialized micro-controller, where the waveform
are described by means of a program in a pseudo assembler language.
Among their feature are:
- It can hold four independent clocking schemes, which can be
selected on a per integration basis. It is also completely
reprogrammed in few seconds.
- It is completely controlled by a standard serial interface.
- It is a conceptual design, so can be easily ported
from present components (XC95288) to future, more powerful
components.
- Its present time division is 62nsec (16Mhz), but can scale up
easily.
- It can accommodates up to 4096 instructions, with looping
capabilities (5 nested levels).
- It has synchronous start/stop.
