HI Survival through Cosmic Times

An International Conference to discuss the fate of neutral hydrogen atoms from early epochs to today's Universe. That means to study the signatures of HI atoms at various cosmological times, the processes which favour its presence or its disappearance into either the ionized phase or the molecular phase, and the relevance of these phases for the baryonic budget and the star formation history of our Universe.

Scientific Organizing Committee

Simone Bianchi (INAF/IRA, Firenze-Italy)
Robert Braun (ASTRON, Dwingeloo-The Netherland)
Frank Briggs (ANU, Canberra-Australia)
Andreas Burkert (University Observatory Munich-Germany)
Chris Carilli (NRAO, Socorro-USA)
Edvige Corbelli (INAF/OA Arcetri, Firenze-Italy)
Andrea Ferrara (SISSA, Trieste-Italy)
Xavier Prochaska (University of California, Santa Cruz-USA)
Raffaella Schneider (INAF/OA Arcetri, Firenze-Italy)

The meeting will take place in Spineto (ITALY), an old abbey surrounded by farmhouses in Val D'Orcia, a countryside southward of Siena, and it will cover the following topics:
  • HI in the dark ages
  • Reionization epoch
  • Radiative feedback
  • Gas at intermediate redshifts
  • Dwarf satellites and dark galaxies
  • Local galaxies and the IGM connection
  • Driving molecule formation
  • Future instruments
